TB is the now the world’s top infectious disease killer, claiming over 4 500 lives a day.

Globally, nearly two billion are infected with tuberculosis. It’s the world’s #1 infectious disease killer.

One-fourth of the world’s population is infected with TB, and 10.4 million become sick with the disease each year.

Because TB is an airborne disease that is transmitted from person to person, it knows no borders.

Drug-resistant TB is
more difficult to find, treat, and cure and is taking an increasingly heavy human and economic toll globally.

In 2016, there were nearly 500,000 cases of multi-drug resistant (MDR) TB—a form of TB resistant to at least two of the first-line anti-TB drugs.

Multi-drug resistant TB is a major global health security threat.
